KOPFKINO

By LEILA SHAYEGH & Carlos Kerr Jr.

Inspired by the collection of concertos for violin by Jean-Marie Leclair published in the XVIIIth century, this project evolves in parallel between the violinist Leila Schayegh and the dancer Carlos Kerr.

Approached in the form of docu-fiction and through the notion of "kopfkino", meaning "cinema in the head" in German, this project seeks to follow each of them throughout a day in their lives by a kind of immersive camera. Because, in real life, Leila and Carlos are both artists and both live in Switzerland. Leila is a great soloist and violin teacher at the prestigious Schola Cantorum in Basel.

Carlos is part of the Ballet of Luzerne Theater. In real life, they meet without ever meeting. They take the same train, meet at the same stops, perhaps sit in the same place but above all each of them repeats, alone, in their corner. In our film they will also meet without ever meeting. This does not however prevent them from coming together through their personal research. Two faces of the same city, of the same passion; that of living his art, by the taste for sacrifice, the search for perfection, a certain quest for truth in an attempt to surpass themselves.
